1 st INTERNATIONAL WORKSHOP ON PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE CLIMATES (PPFC 2027)
covering the GELSTRAT program, including the Nicola bed project focused on the Neogene– Quaternary boundary at Monte San Nicola, Sicily
August 25–27th, 2027
Dear colleagues and friends,
We are pleased to invite you to the 1st International Workshop on Past, Present and Future Climates, organized within the framework of the international program GELSTRAT. A central focus of the workshop will be the Neogene–Quaternary boundary interval at Monte San Nicola, Sicily, one of the most important global reference sections for understanding the intensification of Northern Hemisphere glaciation under the complex influences of orbital and suborbital cyclicity.
In addition to presentations related to the GELSTRAT program, other topics from the Cretaceous onwards will be covered that are relevant to the reconstruction of past climates, the interpretation of present climate dynamics, and the projection of future climate scenarios. Particular emphasis will be placed on the Cretaceous, a period of profound climatic variability and greenhouse conditions that offers valuable analogues for understanding long-term climate dynamics.
The workshop will feature oral presentations and open discussion sessions designed to foster scientific exchange and strengthen collaboration. Please, confirm your interest in participation as soon as possible. The registration deadline will be provided later.
Sincerely,
Wiesława (Viola) Radmacher
